The Head of Government participates in Global Leaders’ Summit on Accelerating Innovation and Spreading Clean Technologies at COP 26
The participation of the Moroccan delegation headed by Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, The Head of Government, in the activities of the 26th session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26), continues in Glasgow, Scotland, for the second day.
The second day was marked by the organization of two global leaders' summits, the first on forests and land use, while the second discussed accelerating innovation and the deployment of clean technologies, with the participation of leaders of a number of countries.
The Head of Government participated in the Global Leaders' Summit on Accelerating Innovation and Deploying Clean Technologies, which was inaugurated by the British Head of Government, Mr. Boris Johnson, and was attended by the President of the United States of America, Mr. Joe Biden, the Head of Government of India, Mr. Narendra Modi, the President of the Republic of Kenya, Mr. Uhuru Kenyatta, the President of the Republic of Namibia, Mr. Hakke Kinkop, and the President of the European Commission, Ms. Ursula von der Leyen.
During his intervention, the Head of Government pointed out that the fields of research, innovation and energy are among the strategic future challenges on which the Kingdom's new development model is based, stressing that Morocco's involvement in the dynamic of the energy transition constitutes a voluntary political option pursued by the Kingdom under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God protect him.
On the sidelines of the summit, Prince William, Duke of Cambridge, presented the Earthshot Prize, which is awarded to reward innovative solutions to the climate crisis.
It is noteworthy that the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP26), which will be held in Glasgow, Scotland, from November 1 to 12, 2021, aims to join the efforts of the parties to accelerate the implementation of the goals of the Paris Agreement on climate and the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
