The Head of Government chairs the work of the steering committee for the implementation of social protection workshops to find out the latest arrangements for universal health coverage

The steering committee for the implementation of social protection workshops met today, Thursday, November 17, 2022, under the chairmanship of Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, Head of Government, and in the presence of the Minister of Interior, Mr. Abdelouafi Laftit, the Secretary-General of the Government, Mr. Mohamed El Hajoui, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Mr. Khalid Ait Taleb, and the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa: The meeting was also attended by the Director General of the National Social Security Fund, Mr. Hassan Boubrik.

The meeting was devoted to reviewing the latest arrangements for the universalization of health coverage starting from December 2022, and the procedural procedures related to the benefit of the remaining groups from these workshops, in full respect of the timetable, previously set by His Majesty the King, may God assist him. 
The officials also discussed the progress of the health sector digitization program so that it can keep pace with these workshops, in addition to standing on the progress of the production of the unified social register.
 

At the beginning of the meeting, the Head of Government invoked the royal instructions related to the universalization of health coverage by the end of 2022, explaining that the implementation of this important royal workshop is one of the basic and important building blocks for building the social state, which the government program seeks to establish. 

Mr. Akhannouch added that the completion of the workshops on universal health coverage in this difficult circumstance and on time frames is an essential step to strengthen social protection for Moroccans, the head of government added, noting that the 2023 Finance Draft Law included financial allocations to bear the burden of enrolling in compulsory health coverage for people who are unable to perform their contribution duties.
