The Head of Government holds talks with Belgian Prime Minister
The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, held talks on Monday, December 5, 2022, via videoconference, with the Belgian Prime Minister, Mr. Alexander De Croo, who at the beginning of the meeting saluted the honorable performance of the Moroccan national football team in the World Cup finals, wishing him success in the rest of his career in the tournament.
On this occasion, the two sides commended the friendly relations between the two royal families and expressed satisfaction with the excellent partnership existing between the two countries, especially in the fight against terrorism, and bilateral cooperation in the fields of justice and migration.
The meeting was an occasion during which the two parties stressed the importance of developing economic and trade cooperation between Morocco and Belgium, especially in the field of green economy, where Mr. Akhannouch stressed that Morocco, thanks to the visionary royal vision, has been able to achieve leadership in the field of renewable energies regionally, noting the attention given by the government to improve the investment climate and encourage and facilitate the attraction of foreign direct investments, which constitutes a key lever for the revival of the national economy, through the adoption of the "New Investment Charter".
The Head of Government noted Belgium's position on the national issue, which considers the autonomy proposal submitted by Morocco in 2007 to be a good basis for a solution acceptable to the parties concerned, pointing to the importance of continuing cooperation on issues of common interest, at the multilateral level and within international bodies.
At the end of the meeting, the two parties reiterated their will to promote the Mixed Higher Committee of the Moroccan-Belgian Partnership and their efforts to hold a meeting of the High Commission for the Moroccan-Belgian Partnership in 2023..
