Head of Government holds talks with Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Assembly of the People's Republic of China

The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, received, on Thursday 11 May 2023 in Rabat, Mr. Zhao Liji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Assembly of the People's Republic of China, who is on a working visit to Morocco at the head of an important delegation of Chinese officials, and held extensive talks with him on various aspects of cooperation between the two countries. 
During this meeting, the two parties praised the quality of the deep-rooted friendly relations marked by mutual appreciation and respect between the Kingdom of Morocco and the People's Republic of China, as the two countries will commemorate the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations next November. 
The two parties also noted the important level of partnership between the Kingdom of Morocco and the People's Republic of China, which consecrates the common will of the leaders of the two countries, as a multidimensional strategic partnership between Morocco and China was established during the official visit of His Majesty King Mohammed VI to the People's Republic of China in May 2016 at the invitation of His Excellency Chinese President Xi Jinping, which culminated in the signing of an important set of cooperation agreements covering various economic, social, cultural and other fields. 
In this context, the two parties expressed their common aspiration to diversify the Moroccan Chinese partnership and expand it to include new strategic sectors, and to invest in the various qualifications offered by the economies of the two countries and their strategic location.
The Head of Government expressed the appreciation of the Kingdom of Morocco for the constructive position of the People's Republic of China within the UN Security Council towards the issue of the Kingdom's territorial integrity and reiterated the Kingdom's attachment to the principle of respect for the sovereignty of States and non-interference in their internal affairs. 
 

The talks also dealt with a range of regional and international issues of common interest, as the two sides recorded the convergence of the views of the two countries on many files of common interest, as well as mutual support for their positions in international forums. 
These talks were attended by Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mohcine Jazouli, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Investment, Convergence and Evaluation of Public Policies, Mustapha Baitas, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesman, as well as the heads of a group of parliamentary committees from the delegation accompanying the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Assembly of China, and the Ambassador of People's Republic of China in Rabat.
