The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, chaired on Wednesday, February 7, 2024, in Rabat, the first meeting of the National Commission for Digital Development. During this meeting, the general guidelines for digital development - Morocco Digital 2030 were presented, which are in line with the Royal High Vision calling for the use of digital development, particularly by encouraging young Moroccans to develop Moroccan digital solutions that meet the needs and contribute to job opportunities.

Mr. Aziz Akhannouch emphasized on this occasion that the government is focusing on digital transition in all sectors and public institutions, based on its belief that this transition is a lever for economic and social development and contributes to establishing the Kingdom as a regional digital hub, in accordance with the Royal High Directives calling for accelerating the pace of digitization in order to bridge the digital gap with advanced countries and benefit from the fruit of the digital evolution that the world is experiencing.

After recalling the main achievements made by our country in the field of digitization, as well as the participatory approach implemented for the development of guidelines in this regard, materialized by a series of regional consultative meetings with various stakeholders in the digital sector, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform, Mrs. Ghita Mezzour, presented the major guidelines for digital development - Morocco Digital 2030, which revolve around two pillars:

  • Digitalization of public services: aiming to accelerate the pace of digitization of public services while ensuring their quality, through a methodology centered around the user, whether citizen or business.
  • Injecting new dynamics into the digital economy in order to develop Moroccan digital solutions and create value and jobs. This pillar revolves around three main axes, which are: the development of the offshoring sector, the establishment of an ecosystem dedicated to developing businesses, and support for the digitization of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Three essential foundations articulate this pillar, which are:

  • Digital talents: through the training of a greater number of young talents in various fields of digitization and information technology through university and professional training, programming schools, and requalification programs, ensuring the adequacy of these training programs with the requirements of the job market.
  • Cloud computing, the development of which remains necessary for our country in order to meet the expectations of the public and private sectors.
  • Coverage of telephony and internet networks, with an emphasis on covering all areas of rural areas with internet and mobile phone networks, ensuring the strengthening of the deployment of fiber optic networks, and adopting 5G technology in the medium term.

This meeting was an opportunity to recall the importance of artificial intelligence, its significant presence among the general guidelines for digital development - Morocco Digital 2030, and the possibilities it offers for improving the quality of public services, in addition to the prospect for our country to become a developer of artificial intelligence.
