The Head of Government receives the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania who arrived in Morocco as part of the Moroccan-Mauritanian Joint High Commission

The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, received, in the presence of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, on Friday 11 March 2022, at the headquarters of the Government in Rabat, Mr. Mohamed Ould Bilal Messaoud, Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania, who arrived in Morocco within the framework of the work of the Moroccan-Mauritanian Joint High Commission, at its eighth session, held in Rabat.
The work of the Moroccan-Mauritanian Joint High Commission is chaired by the Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, and his Mauritanian counterpart, Prime Minister, Mohamed Ould Bilal Messaoud, accompanied by a delegation of ministers, senior officials, and businessmen.  This summit reflects the common asset enjoyed by the two countries, given that Morocco and Mauritania share privileged and fraternal relations at the highest level under the auspices of the leaders of the two countries, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him, and His Excellency President Mohamed Ould Cheikh Ghazouani.
 During the meeting, the two sides stressed the importance of holding the eighth session of the Joint Higher Committee, nearly eight years after its last session was held in Nouakchott on April 23-24, 2013, as a mechanism to consolidate comprehensive strategic cooperation, in implementation of the instructions of the leaders of the two countries.

 

The two sides expressed their satisfaction with the rapid development of bilateral cooperation in recent years, stressing the importance of strengthening Moroccan-Mauritanian relations, which have become a necessity given the challenges facing the Maghreb region and highlighting the important role played by the two countries in promoting regional stability and security.
The eighth session of the Moroccan-Mauritanian Joint High Commission will be an opportunity to give a new impetus to Moroccan-Mauritanian bilateral relations and strengthen cooperation at various levels, as it is expected that this session will culminate in the signing of a package of important agreements in various fields.
