The Head of Government chairs meeting to assess progress of preparations for Morocco's hosting of the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund
Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, Head of Government, chaired, on Tuesday, November 08, 2022, a meeting dedicated to the progress of preparations for the hosting in Marrakech of the annual meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, in October 2023, which is expected to see the participation of 14,000 people from 189 member countries in these two international institutions. This preparatory meeting will be followed by a series of meetings for the success of this international event, which is being organized on the African continent for the first time in 50 years.
During this meeting, a presentation was made of all the stages that these preparations went through and the rest of them, as well as the communication plan prepared to accompany our country's hosting of these meetings.
The meeting was attended by the Minister of Interior Mr. Abdelouafi Laftit, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Mr. Nasser Bourita, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Ms. Nadia Fettah, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Mr. Khalid Ait Taleb, the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mr. Mohamed Abdeljalil, the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Investment and Public Policies, Mr. Mohcine Jazouli, the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance in charge of Budget, Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa, the Governor of Bank Al-Maghrib, Mr. Abdellatif Jouahri, the Secretary General of the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Mr. Nabil Lakhdar, the Director of Treasury and Foreign Finance at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Ms. Fawzia Zaaboul, the Director of Administrative and General Affairs at the Ministry of Economy and Finance, Mr. Mohammed Al-Kharmoudi.
The Annual Meetings are usually held for two consecutive years at the headquarters of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund in Washington, D.C., and every third year in a member country. Central bank governors, ministers of finance and development, private sector executives, representatives of civil society and the media, and academics meet under the umbrella of the Annual Meetings to discuss issues of global concern, including the outlook for the global economy, global financial stability, poverty eradication, economic growth, job creation, and climate change. and other current issues.
It should be noted that the Head of Government met last week with representatives of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, at the end of their annual consultative visit by representatives of the two aforementioned institutions to various countries of the world, which began in our country since October 24, during which our country's preparations to host the annual meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund were discussed.
