The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch Represents His Majesty the King at US-Africa Leaders' Summit

The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch will represent His Majesty King Mohammed VI at the Summit of Leaders of the United States and Africa, which will be held in the US Federal Capital from December 13 to 15.

The program of this summit, which brings together representatives of about 50 countries, civil society, and the private sector from the African continent, as well as officials of the US administration and the African Union Commission, includes several meetings and thematic sessions on a number of issues.

According to the State Department, this summit builds on shared values to better support new economic engagement, strengthen the commitment of the United States and Africa, in particular, to democracy, mitigate the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic and future pandemics, and work collaboratively to promote regional and global health, enhance food security, promote peace and security, and respond to the climate crisis.

The summit kicked off on Tuesday with the Diaspora/Young Leaders Forum, which discussed, in particular, Africa's development, followed by a session on safety, governance and security with the participation of US Secretary of State, Mr. Antony Blinken. The summit programme also includes meetings on cooperation in health, climate change adaptation and energy transition.

Also part of the summit is the U.S.-Africa Business Forum to discuss many issues of trade, energy and infrastructure.
