The Head of Government holds talks with a delegation from the US Congress

The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch held, on Friday, January 13, 2023, at the Head of Government's Office in Rabat, talks with an American delegation comprising seven members of the Congress, representing the Democratic and Republican parties.
The talks focused on emphasizing the exceptional relations between Morocco and the United States, based on a strong, ambitious, and diverse partnership, constants, history, and common values, in line with the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed Al-Sas, may God assist him. 
During this meeting, the Head of Government stressed that the relationship between the two countries is based on several pillars, including, first, the political-diplomatic element, through the strategic dialogue between the two countries and the coordination of their positions on several international issues, especially since the Abraham Accords, to which Morocco is a party, constitute a diplomatic success that inaugurates a new era of peace and stability. The Head of Government also recalled the important security and military cooperation between the two countries in the fight against terrorism and organized crime. 
 

In this regard, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch explained that the free trade agreement has made it possible to quadruple the volume of bilateral exchanges since its signing, moving from one and a half billion dollars to more than five billion dollars of trade exchanges, noting that the Kingdom of Morocco can play the role of a link for US investments in the African continent. 
On the other hand, the Head of Government praised the quality of the American programs aimed at accompanying economic development in Morocco, in several important sectors, pointing out that the two charters implemented in Morocco by the Millennium Challenge Account Foundation are a model of success, given the very positive impact they have had on the local population. He also expressed his great satisfaction with the progress of the Second Charter, which concludes on March 31, 2023, noting that the commitment rate exceeded 93 percent, while the performance rate approached 78 percent. During these talks, the two sides recalled bilateral agreements in the cultural field, which contribute to the creation of understanding on the humanitarian level between the United States and the Kingdom of Morocco and their peoples. They also expressed their desire to explore ways together to continue the path of fruitful cooperation.
