The Head of Government holds talks with the World Bank Managing Director for Operations
The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, held talks on Monday, February 20, 2023, in Rabat, with Mr. Axel van Trotsenburg, Managing Director for Operations at the World Bank, who was accompanied by Mr. Farid Belhaj, Vice President of the World Bank for the Middle East and North Africa.
The meeting was an opportunity to commend the cooperation relations between Morocco and the World Bank Group, and to discuss ways and means to strengthen the strategic partnership between the two parties. It also reviewed the structural and bold reforms initiated by the current government, in line with the High Royal Directives.
The Head of Government praised the efforts of the World Bank in supporting and accompanying development and modernization projects in our country, aimed at implementing high-priority projects, such as universal social protection, public sector reform, and continuing the implementation of sectoral strategies.
Also, during the talks, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch reiterated Morocco's pride in hosting the annual meetings of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, to be organized in Marrakech in 2023, where they will be held again in Africa in half a century.
