The Head of Government receives the Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria

The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, received, on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, in the presence of Mr. Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, the Federal Chancellor of the Republic of Austria, Mr. Karl Nehammer, who is on a working visit to our country, on the sidelines of the Moroccan-Austrian Economic Forum, accompanied by an important delegation of businessmen.
At the beginning of the meeting, the two sides stressed the strength of the fraternal relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Federal Republic of Austria, which are sponsored by the leaders of the two countries, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, and His Excellency President Alexander van der Bellen. 
The two sides expressed their pride in the long-standing historical relations between the two countries, as this visit coincides with the 240th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Austria. On this occasion, Austrian Ambassador to Morocco Anna Janković presented the Head of Government with two paintings documenting the long-standing diplomatic relations between the two countries.
 

During the meeting, the two parties stressed the importance of the Moroccan-Austrian Economic Forum, held in our country from February 27 to March 1, 2023, as an opportunity to strengthen economic cooperation, culminating in the signing of a joint agreement between the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM) and the Austrian Economic Chamber. 
The two officials expressed their satisfaction with the development of trade between Rabat and Vienna and the growth of Austrian investments in Morocco in recent years. During the meeting, the two parties focused on the fruitful industrial cooperation between the two countries in the field of the automotive industry, reiterating the determination of Morocco and Austria to exchange experiences for the development of joint projects related to energy efficiency and renewable energies.
The meeting also touched on a range of issues of common interest, including the issue of the Moroccan Sahara, parliamentary cooperation between the two countries, migration and security issues, and judicial and cultural cooperation. 
It is worth mentioning that this visit will culminate in the issuance of a joint statement between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Federal Republic of Austria, which will reinforce the positive dynamic of joint cooperation between the two countries in various fields.
