The Head of Government receives the President of the Austrian National Council

The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, received, on Monday, March 20, 2023, in Rabat, Mr. Wolfgang Sobotka, President of the National Assembly of the Republic of Austria, who is on a working visit to Morocco, accompanied by an important delegation, including in particular the Chairman of the Austria-North Africa Parliamentary Friendship Group.
During this meeting, the Head of Government and the President of the Austrian National Council noted with satisfaction the positive dynamic in the historical relations of friendship and cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Austria during the recent period, as the two countries marked the 240th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between them.
 

The two sides recalled the positive results of the official visit to the Kingdom in late February by Austrian Chancellor  Karl Nehammer, heading an important delegation of officials and businessmen, which was marked by the holding of the Moroccan-Austrian Economic Forum, which opens promising prospects for the economic partnership between the two countries.
During this meeting, the Head of Government noted the positive position of the Republic of Austria on the national issue, which was confirmed on the occasion of the visit of the Austrian Chancellor to the Kingdom, as the Republic of Austria considers that the autonomy proposal submitted by Morocco in 2007 constitutes a basis for a solution to the dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, and considers the efforts made by the Kingdom in this context serious and credible. 
The Head of Government also underlined that the visit of the President of the Austrian National Council to the Kingdom consecrates the historical nature of bilateral relations and reinforces the positive process of Moroccan-Austrian cooperation in its political, economic, cultural, and other dimensions.
The two sides also discussed the contribution of the partnership between the legislative institutions of the two countries to enrich and expand the horizons of Moroccan-Austrian friendship and cooperation.
