The Head of Government concludes his tour in the Draa-Tafilalet region

  • Monitoring the progress of the construction of the regional hospital in Tinghir and the construction and rehabilitation of a number of health projects, including 30 health centers.
  • Projects for the completion and rehabilitation of 40 projects of interest to the national education sector, primary education, and sports, for which more than 143 million dirhams have been allocated.
  • Monitoring the pace of completion of projects related to the supply of potable water, dams, and hill lakes worth 627 million dirhams.
  • Projects related to the development of mountain and oasis tourism in the region allocated 210 million dirhams.


The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, concluded his visit to the Draa-Tafilalet region, on Saturday, June 17, 2023, at the head of a ministerial delegation, by inspecting a number of economic and social projects in the province of Tinghir, within the framework of the government's dedication to the policy of listening and proximity to citizens, and its keenness to consolidate regional justice, in line with the royal will in this regard.
On this occasion, the Head of Government received various explanations on the projects of supplying potable water to a group of centers and roundabouts in the region and the progress of their implementation, in addition to projects for the completion of small dams and hill lakes, for which a total financial envelope of 627 million dirhams was allocated. The visit was also an opportunity to see the progress of the widening and strengthening of the national road No. 12, linking the cities of Tinghir and Midelt.
With regard to the health and social protection sector, the Head of Government noted the progress of projects of interest to the sector at the level of Tinghir province. In this context, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch paid a field visit to the construction workshops of the regional hospital in Tinghir and reviewed the progress of its work, where a financial envelope of up to 240 million dirhams was allocated to it. It also presented to him a number of health projects, including the preparation of Boumalne Dades Hospital, with a financial envelope of up to 65 million dirhams, in addition to the rehabilitation of 21 health centers at a total cost of 44.7 million MAD, rehabilitation and reconstruction of 9 village health centers at a cost of 22.4 million MAD, construction of a first-level health center in Avanor, equipping Qalaat M'gouna Hospital with a scanner, and acquiring sanitary equipment for the Alneef dialysis center.

 

At the level of the national education, preschool, and sports sector, the Head of Government presented the completion of 40 projects of interest to the sector, at a total cost of 143.76 million dirhams. These projects relate to the construction of 116 classrooms for primary education (29.72 million dirhams), the expansion of educational institutions with 68 classrooms (15.78 million dirhams), the rehabilitation of 40 primary institutions, 11 secondary and preparatory institutions, and 9 rehabilitation secondary schools, the construction of health facilities in 75 educational institutions, and the construction of fences in 107 educational institutions (25.3 million MAD).
At the level of the agricultural sector, the Head of Government reviewed the progress of the implementation of the regional plan for agriculture in the province of Tinghir, as well as the program to reduce spatial and social disparities in the rural world in the region for the year 2022, for which financial allocations of 179.5 million dirhams have been allocated. In addition to the work program for 2023, which includes the completion of about 140 km of roads, paths, and technical installations, at an estimated cost of 304.1 million dirhams, which will enable the removal of 20,000 people.


A number of projects related to the tourism sector were also presented to the Head of Government, where he was briefed on the program for the development of mountain and oasis tourism in the province of Tinghir, which includes two programs, the first is urgent 2023-2024, for which financial allocations of up to 103 million dirhams have been allocated, and aims at the tourism valorization of the Todgha straits, the development of panoramic platforms in a group of tourist sites in the region, in addition to the valorization and rehabilitation of tourist accommodation. The second program is complementary 2025-2027, with a financial envelope of up to 107 million dirhams, concerned with tourism valorization and the creation of activities. Revenue-generating tourism, the creation of exhibition centers, and the creation of paragliding platforms and air balloons.
At the end of his visit to the various regions of the Draa-Tafilalet region, the Head of Government held a meeting with the members of the Council of the Draa-Tafilalet Region, during which he listened to the various approaches, perceptions, and constraints on the part of the elected ladies and gentlemen. It was also agreed during the meeting to create permanent bridges of communication between the government and the region, in order to take their needs and aspirations into account in various development programs.
