The Head of Government chairs a meeting on Morocco's candidacy to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup

The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch chaired, immediately after the end of the work of the Government Council, Thursday (June 22nd in Rabat), the first meeting of the committee, which will oversee the submission of our country's candidacy file to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup, jointly with Spain and Portugal, with the various government sectors concerned, with the aim of studying the arrangements for this file.
This meeting follows the announcement in March in Kigali of Morocco's joint candidacy to organize the 2030 World Cup, following His Majesty’s assignment, last week, to Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa the Minister Delegate in charge of the budget and President of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), to chair the committee in charge of the nomination file.
During the meeting, this issue was addressed from its various organizational and logistical aspects, and Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa gave a presentation that included two parts, the first related to our country's perception of the nomination file, and the second related to the implementation plan.
In a speech during the meeting, the Head of Government recalled the message of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, on the occasion of receiving the 2022 Excellence Award from the Confederation of African Football in Kigali, the meanings and implications of this tripartite candidacy, which "bears the title of linking Africa and Europe, between the northern and southern Mediterranean, and between the African continent, the Arab world, and the Euro-Mediterranean space", noting that Morocco's progress to host the World Cup for the sixth time in its history reflects His Majesty's keenness since his accession to the throne. to put sport at the heart of every development process.

Mr. Aziz Akhannouch added that this tripartite nomination constitutes a new horizon in the strategic partnership, dedicated to a new generation of cooperation and partnerships, reflects the unification of the efforts and capabilities of the African and European continents, and embodies, as His Majesty the King said in his message in Kigali, "the highest meanings of unity around the best of this or that side, and stands as a witness to the concerted efforts of genius, creativity, and integration of expertise and capabilities", stressing that the government is mobilized to provide all the conditions for the success of the committee in performing its tasks, related to supervising the submission of a file Our country is bidding to host the 2030 FIFA World Cup.
