Head of Government inspects, together with Committee members, the arrangements for Marrakech to host the annual meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund and the progress of work

The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, chaired, on Monday, July 24, 2023, in Marrakech, the third meeting of the National Committee to lead the organization of the annual general meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, which is scheduled to be hosted in Marrakech next October, in the expected presence of 14,000 high-level participants, including ministers of economy and finance and governors of central banks of the 189 member countries.
The Head of Government, accompanied by the members of the Committee, also toured the space that will host the meetings, in order to effectively observe the progress of the works and to see the readiness of the space to receive the participants in the best conditions. 
On this occasion, the Head of Government highlighted the Kingdom's exposure to the organization of world-renowned events, recalling the achievements, infrastructure, and structural projects implemented under the wise leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, May God Assist Him.
The choice of Morocco to host a global meeting at the level of the annual general meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, which is held every 3 years on a different continent, reflects the special interest that international financial institutions attach to the Kingdom of Morocco, said Aziz Akhannouch, noting that this event is an opportunity for Morocco to make the voice of the African continent heard by the international community.  
 

During the meeting, the Head of Government called on the various stakeholders, including ministries and local authorities in Marrakech, to exert every effort to make this important event a success and to receive the participants in the best conditions.
The meeting was attended by Minister of Interior Abdelouafi Laftit, Minister of Economy and Finance Nadia Fattah Minister of Health and Social Protection Khaled Ait Taleb, Minister of Territorial Planning, Urbanization, Housing and Urban Policy Fatima Zahra El Mansouri, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy Fatima Zahra Amor, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development Leila Benali, Minister of Transport and Logistics Mohamed Abdeljalil, and Wali of Bank Al Maghrib, Mr. Abdellatif Jouahri, Mr. Karim Kassi Lahlou, Wali of the Marrakech-Safi Region and Prefect of Marrakech, Mr. Fouad Yazough, Ambassador and Director General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, and Mr. Adel El Fakir, Director General of the Moroccan National Tourist Office. 
The World Bank Group-International Monetary Fund meetings in Marrakech relate to 6 main themes: financial and digital inclusion, sustainable development, reforms of international financial institutions, entrepreneurship and innovation, social safety nets, and tolerance and coexistence.
It is noteworthy that the organization of these meetings is an annual meeting that brings together high-level international actors in economics and finance, with the aim of discussing solutions to future challenges.
