The Head of government presides over the fourth meeting of the Interministerial Commission responsible for the deployment of an emergency program for the rehabilitation and reconstruction assistance of housing destroyed by the earthquake

On Monday, September 25, 2023, in Rabat, Head of government Mr. Aziz Akhannouch presided over the fourth meeting of the Interministerial Commission responsible for the deployment of an emergency program for the rehabilitation and reconstruction assistance of housing destroyed by the Al Haouz earthquake. This meeting provided an update on the progress of implementing the integrated and multisectoral emergency program projects that have been the subject of Royal High Directives.
The meeting also discussed the creation of a dedicated agency aimed at ensuring the optimal implementation of this program, with its main mission being the effective monitoring of reconstruction and rehabilitation projects, as well as the investments planned in the affected areas.
The Head of government stated that the government will mobilize all its resources in the phase of rapid reconstruction, which includes schools, hospitals, and vital facilities affected by the earthquake. He specified that the funding for these projects will come from the special solidarity account created under Royal High Instructions for managing the earthquake's effects.
The Head of government added that a series of meetings will be held in the coming days to coordinate efforts and finalize the vision for implementing development projects in the affected areas. He assured that the government's commitment to housing reconstruction, rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure, and the enhancement of social and economic development in these areas continues.
