A new round of social dialogue was launched on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, in Rabat, under the chairmanship of the Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, and in the presence of the Minister of Economy and Finance; the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment, and Skills; the Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of the Budget; the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Relations with Parliament, and Government Spokesperson; and the Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform.
In this context, the Head of Government received a delegation from the Moroccan Workers' Union (UMT), led by the general secretary of the union, Mr. Miloudi Moukharik. The meeting, which took place in a positive atmosphere, was marked by responsible and constructive dialogue, allowing a review of the reform projects undertaken by the government in accordance with the High Royal Directives.
Both parties agreed to continue joint efforts and reflections to address various social challenges, including the pension reform project that the government intends to implement this year.
During this meeting, the Head of Government expressed the government's strong conviction regarding the pivotal role of labor unions and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises in the process of strengthening the foundations of the social state. He highlighted their contribution to the economic dynamism of the country through a participatory approach that lays the groundwork for a solid and lasting partnership between the government and its social and economic partners.
Mr. Aziz Akhannouch also described the results of the social dialogue as positive and commendable, noting the government's success in initiating a serious and responsible dialogue with labor unions. This has led to improved financial conditions and the status of workers in several sectors, as well as addressing unresolved sectoral issues.
It should be noted that the Head of Government's meeting with the UMT delegation on Tuesday will be followed this week by a series of meetings with delegations from the General Union of Moroccan Workers (UGTM), the Democratic Confederation of Labor (CDT), and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM).
