The Head of Government holds meetings with international figures and events on the sidelines of COP26

The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, held meetings on Monday with his Dutch counterpart, Mr. Mark Rutte, on the sidelines of the twenty-sixth session of the Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) "COP-26".

In a statement to the press after the talks, the Dutch Head of Government said bilateral relations were "excellent", noting that the two sides agreed to take them "to a higher level", especially in the areas of energy transition, economic cooperation, and trade exchanges.

On the other hand, he stressed that the conference was of fundamental importance, since it was not only about setting objectives, but rather working to activate them.

"The motto of this phase is action, and it is time to ensure that all predetermined actions are implemented," he stressed.

The Head of Government also met with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Mrs. Odile Renaud Basso, and this meeting was an opportunity for the Head of Government to talk with the President of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development on a range of topics, including the prospects for cooperation between the Kingdom and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and to identify the main priorities of Morocco during this cooperation.
 

The Head of Government also met with Mr. James Cleverly, British Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, on the sidelines of the 26th session of COP26, hosted by Glasgow, Scotland.

On this occasion, the Head of Government congratulated the British Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa on the success of this major global conference, which is an opportunity to discuss climate-related issues and discussed a range of issues related to the two countries.

The meetings were attended by Mr. Mohamed Sadiki, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, and Ms. Leila Benali, Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development.

COP26's main ambition is to strengthen collective action to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, limiting climate warming to 1.5 degrees compared to pre-industrial levels. It is also envisaged to mobilize the necessary funds to ensure the energy transition in all parts of the world.
