Establishing a unit at the level of the Presidency of the Government to follow up the reports of the Supreme Council of Accounts (statement)
In order to increase the impact of the reports carried out by the Court of Auditors and the Regional Audit Councils in various fields, particularly those related to the evaluation of the extent of the implementation of major development projects and the extent to which they are implemented at the territorial level, as well as their impact on the standard of living of citizens, and in order to interact positively with the recommendations contained in these reports in order to improve public administration and strengthen the principles and values of good governance, a specialized unit has been established at the level of the Presidency of the Government in order to regularly and continuously monitor the measures taken to implement these recommendations. By the concerned ministerial sectors and public agencies under their tutelage, and work to overcome the difficulties that may hinder their implementation, in coordination with the official interlocutors who were appointed at the level of each ministerial sector following the issuance of Circular 11/2021 of the Head of Government on June 03, 2021, which aims to strengthen communication with the Supreme Council of Accounts and the Regional Boards of Accounts.
This unit will also monitor the actions and measures taken by the relevant ministerial sectors to implement the national anti-corruption strategy and to harmonize the national anti-money laundering and combating the financing of terrorism system with international standards.
Mr. Mohamed Sawabi, former President of a Chamber of the Court of Auditors, has been assigned to oversee this unit.
