The Head of Government receives the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO)

The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, received, on Thursday, March 24, 2022, the Director-General of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), Mrs. Audrey Azoulay, who is on a working visit to Morocco, as part of the celebration of the tenth anniversary of the classification of the capital Rabat as a World Heritage site. 
The meeting was attended by Mr. Mohamed Mehdi Bensaid, Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, and Mr. Karim Hendili, Director of UNESCO Office for the Maghreb.
The meeting was an opportunity to talk about the importance of partnership and cooperation between Morocco and UNESCO, and an opportunity to review ways to strengthen it. It also reviewed the efforts made by Morocco, under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, to preserve heritage and heritage sites.
During the meeting, the Head of Government expressed the Kingdom's commitment to supporting the efforts of the UN in consolidating the foundations of security, peace, and coexistence among peoples, stressing that the areas of interest of the United Nations, especially education, culture and heritage, are the same areas that are also at the top of the government's priorities.
For her part, Mrs. Audrey Azoulay expressed her thanks and appreciation for the support that UNESCO enjoys in Morocco, pledging to continue working with the Kingdom in many programs that interest it.
It is worth mentioning that the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) established an office in Rabat in 1991, covering all five countries of the Maghreb.
