The Head of Government presides over the meeting of the Interministerial Commission responsible for the deployment of an emergency program for the rehabilitation and assistance in the reconstruction of homes destroyed by the earthquake.

In immediate implementation of the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, given during the working session chaired by the sovereign on Saturday, September 9th, at the Royal Palace in Rabat, and dedicated to the examination of the situation following the painful earthquake that occurred on Friday, September 8th, in the province of Al Haouz, Head of Government Mr. Aziz Akhannouch chaired, on Monday, September 11th, 2023, in Rabat, the meeting of the Interministerial Commission responsible for the deployment of an emergency program for the rehabilitation and assistance in the reconstruction of homes destroyed in the disaster-stricken areas as soon as possible.
At the beginning of this meeting, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch affirmed that the government is fully committed to supporting His Majesty the King, may God protect him, in continuing relief efforts and expediting crisis management measures, as well as providing support and assistance to the citizens in the affected areas, while ensuring the continuation of public services.
The Commission addressed the Royal High Directives calling for the reconstruction of the affected areas and the compensation of citizens who have lost their homes. In this regard, it worked on formulating a detailed vision, which will be announced in the coming days, regarding the measures to be taken, without neglecting the urgent solutions to be undertaken while awaiting the completion of the housing reconstruction operation.


Furthermore, the exceptional government council meeting held yesterday, Sunday, adopted the draft decree 2.23.811 concerning the establishment of the special account « Special Fund for the Management of the Effects of the earthquake that struck the Kingdom of Morocco », which will receive voluntary contributions of solidarity from private and public organizations and citizens within Morocco and abroad.
Participants in this meeting included the Minister of the Interior, Mr. Abdelouafi Laftit, the Minister of Economy and Finance, Mrs. Nadia Fettah, the Minister of Equipment and Water, Mr. Nizar Baraka, the Minister of National Education, Preschool, and Sports, Mr. Chakib Benmoussa, the Minister of Health and Social Protection, Mr. Khalid Ait Taleb, the Minister of National Territory Planning, Urbanism, Housing, and City Policy, Mrs. Fatim Ezzahra El Mansouri, the Minister of Youth, Culture, and Communication, Mr. Mohammed Mehdi Bensaid, the Minister of Solidarity, Social Inclusion, and Family, Mrs. Aawatif Hayar, the Delegate Minister to the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of the Budget, Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa, the Delegate Minister to the Head of Government in charge of Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesperson, Mr. Mustapha Baitas, as well as Mr. Mohamed Dardouri, the national coordinator of the INDH, Mohamed Atfaoui, Governor of the Azilal province, and Mr. Said Layt, Director of Rural Development and Mountain Areas at the Ministry of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Forests.
