The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, received Mr. Bah Oury, Prime Minister of the Republic of Guinea, on Thursday, November 28, 2024, in Rabat. The meeting was attended by Mr. Nasser Bourita, Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation, and Moroccans Living Abroad. Discussions focused on ways to strengthen cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Guinea.
This meeting provided an opportunity to highlight the exemplary ties of friendship that unite the two countries, ties that have been further solidified by the two visits of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, to the Republic of Guinea in 2014 and 2017.
On this occasion, the Head of Government affirmed that the Kingdom of Morocco, in accordance with the High Royal Directives, remains committed to supporting the Republic of Guinea in achieving sustainable and inclusive economic and social development. He emphasized the development of key sectors such as agriculture, maritime fishing, health, and industry. He also praised the close cooperation with the Republic of Guinea, which is underpinned by strong bonds of fraternity, friendship, and solidarity between the two peoples.
The talks were also an opportunity to commend the Republic of Guinea’s position regarding Morocco’s sovereignty over its southern provinces. In line with its consistent stance on the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara, Guinea opened a consulate general in Dakhla in January 2020.
The two officials also discussed mechanisms to further enhance bilateral economic relations within the framework of a model partnership strategy for South-South cooperation on the African continent. This aligns with the State visits of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, to various friendly countries on the continent, the signing of a joint communiqué between the governments of the two countries in May 2023 in Rabat, and the 7th session of the Morocco–Guinea Joint Commission held in Dakhla in July 2023.
