The Head of Government officially launches the 7th edition of the 'Halieutis' exhibition in Agadir.

The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, officially launched the 7th edition of the international exhibition "Halieutis" on Wednesday, February 5, 2025, in Agadir. The event is held under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, in the presence of the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Mr. Ahmed Bouari, the Secretary of State in charge of Maritime Fisheries, Mrs. Zakia Driouich, and the Wali of the Souss-Massa region and Governor of the Prefecture of Agadir Ida-Outanane, Mr. Essaid Amzazi.
This edition, taking place from February 6 to 9 at the Agadir Exhibition Center under the theme "Research and Innovation for a Sustainable Fisheries Sector", features France as the guest of honor. It reaffirms the Kingdom’s strong commitment to making scientific research a strategic driver for ensuring the sustainability of fisheries resources and enhancing the competitiveness of Moroccan enterprises.
On this occasion, the Head of Government toured the five key areas of the exhibition: the institutional pavilion, the international pavilion, the processing and value-addition pavilion, the fleet and equipment pavilion, and the aquaculture pavilion.
The Head of Government emphasized that, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, Morocco aspires to play a leading role in the international maritime fisheries system. This ambition serves as a strong motivation to develop industries related to the sector, which significantly contributes to job creation, enhancing Morocco’s attractiveness, and opening up the country to foreign investments and future partnerships in this field.
Mr. Aziz Akhannouch further stressed that scientific research and innovation form a solid foundation for the national strategy to develop the maritime fisheries sector and strengthen the transition towards a "blue economy", contributing to sustainable development. In this regard, he commended the government’s efforts in supporting the transformations occurring in the sector and in proactively developing its capacities to address various environmental challenges.
The organization of this large-scale event highlights the importance of the maritime fisheries sector within the national economic fabric. Morocco's seafood production reached 1.42 million tons in 2024, with export revenues amounting to 31 billion dirhams in 2023. This performance positions Morocco as the leading African producer and ranks it 13th globally.
The "Halieutis" exhibition, now an essential international event for discovering the latest innovations in maritime fisheries, seafood processing, and aquaculture, welcomes more than 523 exhibitors from 54 countries for its 7th edition. Among them, four countries—South Korea, the United Kingdom, India, and the Sultanate of Oman—are participating for the first time.
