The Head of Government Holds Talks with the Vice President of the World Bank for the MENA Region

The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, held talks on Monday, February 24, 2025, in Rabat, with the Vice President of the World Bank for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region, Mr. Ousmane Dione. Discussions focused on ways to strengthen the strategic partnership between Morocco and the World Bank Group, enabling this international financial institution to enhance its support for Morocco’s development priorities.
These talks provided an opportunity to review the structural reforms initiated by the government, in accordance with the High Royal Directives, and to highlight the various programs that have allowed Morocco to preserve macroeconomic stability and strengthen the resilience of the national economy.
During the meeting, the Head of Government praised the efforts undertaken by the World Bank in supporting development projects in Morocco, in alignment with the priorities set by the government program. He also commended the international financial institution's involvement in numerous ambitious national projects that the government is implementing, in accordance with the enlightened Royal Vision.
Both parties discussed various areas in which the World Bank has expressed its willingness to support Morocco, including job promotion, water security, addressing the impact of climate change, digital transition, energy efficiency, the blue economy, programs aimed at enhancing human capital.
The meeting also provided an opportunity to discuss partnership prospects, particularly concerning the World Bank’s support for projects planned within Morocco’s preparations to host major international events. Special emphasis was placed on projects related to infrastructure enhancement and connectivity development.
Morocco and the World Bank Group share a privileged partnership dating back to 1960, which has since mobilized more than $27.12 billion to support various development projects across different sectors in the Kingdom.
