The Head of Government chairs a working meeting on the revival of the tourism sector and the ongoing preparations for the tourist season

The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, chaired, on Thursday, May 19, 2022, a meeting devoted to reviewing the measures taken to revive the tourism sector after two years of the repercussions of the global health crisis, especially with the registration of some positive indicators that can be invested in order to receive a good reception for the new tourist season, which would contribute to re-achieving a new take-off for the sector.
 The meeting was attended by Ms. Nadia Fettah, Minister of Economy and Finance, Ms. Fatim-Zahra Ammor, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts, Social and Solidarity Economy, Mr. Mustapha Baitas, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of Relations with Parliament, the Government Spokesperson, Mr. Adel El Fakir, Director General of the Moroccan National Tourist Office, and Mr. Imad Berkad, Director General of the Moroccan Company for Tourism Engineering.
During the meeting, the Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and Social and Solidarity Economy presented the ministry's vision for the return of tourism activity to normal as soon as possible, with the goal of recording a monthly influx of tourists completed this year equal to or greater than what was recorded before the crisis.
 The ministry's vision also aims to increase the number of tourists, and to return from 2023 to the same important level recorded in 2019, which was a positive year in terms of tourist arrivals.

 

Among the broad outlines of this vision are:

Securing the largest number of seats for tourists coming to our country with airlines.
Development of tourism recovery and extensive promotional campaigns and partnerships with global travel operators and digital platforms.
The adaptation of tourism supply to demand, as well as the strategy to revive tourism investment, in particular, which aims to encourage investments in small and medium enterprises and in the field of entertainment and revitalization.

The Head of Government urged all stakeholders to strengthen the human resources working in the sector in order to keep pace with the workshops to revive the tourism sector, calling on the various actors in the field to rehabilitate hotel structures in order to improve the quality of services provided to expatriates.
He also called on all government sectors to accompany the tourism sector until it recovers and contributes to achieving economic take-off, stressing the importance of ensuring the implementation of various measures and procedures that would revive the sector and reach the goals that have been set.
