The Head of Government chairs a meeting on the water situation in our country

The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, chaired, on Thursday, June 30, 2022, a remote meeting dedicated to "Studying the water situation in our country", in the presence of: Mr. Abdelouafi Laftit, Minister of the Interior, Ms. Nadia Fettah, Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Nizar Baraka, Minister of Equipment and Water, Mr. Mohamed Sadiki, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of the budget, and Mr. Mustapha Baitas, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of relations with Parliament, Government Spokesman, and Mr. Abderrahim El Hafidi, Director General of the National Office of Electricity and Potable Water.
The meeting was an opportunity to identify the various measures that will be taken to maintain the continuous supply of potable water in all regions of the Kingdom. With the development of a communication plan aimed at raising awareness of water scarcity and how to rationalize its consumption.
In this context, it was decided to establish a committee comprising all concerned sectors under the supervision of the Ministry of Equipment and Water that will monitor the government's programme with regard to the continuous supply of potable water in all regions of the Kingdom.
In his speech, the Head of Government stressed the importance of raising awareness and developing collective awareness of water scarcity management and how to rationalize its consumption.The Head of Government also urged all concerned sectorsto accelerate the proper implementation of the various programs related to water management, encourage investments that would provide sustainable solutions with regard to the production, distribution, and exploitation of water, and enable Morocco to overcome the problem of water scarcity and achieve water security.
