The Head of Government oversees the signing of a framework agreement to support victims of forest fires – July 2022

In implementation of the High Royal Instructions, the Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, supervised, on Friday, July 22, 2022, the signing ceremony of an agreement to implement a set of emergency measures to reduce the impact of the fires, which broke out in July 2022, on agricultural activity and forestry, and to support the affected population. The cost of implementing these measures amounts to 290 million dirhams.
The framework agreement was signed by Mrs. Nadia Fettah, Minister of Economy and Finance, Ms. Fatima Ezzahra El Mansouri, Minister of National Territory and Urban Planning, Housing, and City Policy, Mr. Mohamed Sadiki, Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Mr. Younes Sekkouri, Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment and Skills, Mr. Mohamed Mehidia, Governor of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Region, Mr. Said Zniber, Wali of the Fez-Meknes Region, Mr. Omar Mourou, President of the Council of the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima Region, and Mr. Abdelouahed Ansari. President of the Council of the Fez-Meknes Region.
This agreement, which aims to mitigate the consequences of the recent fires that broke out during July 2022 on the affected population, will include taking various measures in the short and medium term in order to support the population in the rehabilitation and restoration of damaged houses, which have been counted by the public authorities, carrying out afforestation operations in forests destroyed by fires, rehabilitating damaged fruit trees by reforesting about 9,330 hectares, strengthening new fire prevention and control means and mitigating the harmful effects of fires on the fires. Livestock breeders and beekeepers in the affected areas, with the implementation of integrated economic development projects in the affected areas. In addition, 1.000 additional job opportunities were created for the Tangier-Tetouan-Al Hoceima region for the benefit of the affected people and their family members to work within the framework of the Awrach program.
The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, stressed that the intervention teams of the Royal Armed Forces, the Royal Gendarmerie, the Auxiliary Forces, the Civil Protection and the National Agency for Water and Forests, mobilized, in implementation of the High Royal Instructions, to extinguish the fires and help the affected population, protect them and their property.
The Head of Government called on the various stakeholders to immediately implement emergency measures in order to mitigate the impact of the fires on agricultural activity and forestry, and to support the population affected by the fires that broke out during July 2022.
