The Head of Government receives the Hungarian Prime Minister
The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, received, on Friday, April 12, 2024, in Marrakech, his Hungarian counterpart, Mr. Viktor Orban, who is visiting the Kingdom.
This meeting was an opportunity to salute the strength of the friendly and cooperative relations between Morocco and Hungary, which have seen significant developments in recent years, in line with the commitment of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, to diversify partnerships with the Member States of the European Union.
The meeting also highlighted the importance of strengthening and expanding economic cooperation between the two countries, with Morocco being Hungary's top trading partner in the African continent, with a trade volume of around 4.1 billion Dirhams (382 million euros) in 2022, an increase of 25% compared to 2021.
The two parties also discussed preparations for the holding of the 5th Morocco-Hungary Economic Commission scheduled for October 2024, as a culmination of this year coinciding with the commemoration of the 65th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
During this meeting, Viktor Orban extended an invitation to the Head of Government to undertake a working visit to Hungary.
These discussions also provided an opportunity to address several regional and international issues, to examine ways to develop partnership on all levels, and to acknowledge the alignment of the views of the two countries on many international issues.
