The Head of Government receives the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations

The Head of Government, Aziz Akhannouch, received, on Thursday in Rabat, the Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Qu Dongyu, who is visiting Morocco in the context of the holding, from April 18 to 20 in Rabat, of the 33rd FAO Regional Conference for Africa.
On this occasion, the Head of Government emphasized the particular interest that Morocco, under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist Him, attaches to the agriculture sector and rural areas, aiming to achieve integrated development and create added value through successive strategies based on agricultural restructuring, productivity improvement, placing investment at the heart of the agricultural equation, as well as promoting human capital.
 

For his part, the FAO Director-General praised Morocco's experience in agriculture and food processing industry, considering that the strategies adopted by Morocco over the past twenty years under the enlightened leadership of His Majesty the King could serve as an example to be followed by various African countries. He assured that FAO intends to develop its partnership with the Kingdom in a way that benefits other African countries.
The two parties also reviewed the mechanisms for strengthening the permanent strategic partnership between Morocco and FAO, which manages a portfolio estimated at around 22 million dollars in the Kingdom in areas such as permaculture and rural development, as well as in terms of emergency interventions.
They also welcomed the technical support provided by FAO, which has evolved significantly through the implementation of projects addressing specific needs on the ground, towards a strategic partnership based on a programming approach.
These discussions highlighted the importance of the FAO Regional Conference for Africa, for which the government has mobilized all the conditions for success, in order to make it an opportunity for the exchange of best practices, exploration of partnerships, and examination of innovative solutions around agriculture and food systems.
