The Head of Government receives a delegation from the General Union of Moroccan Workers as part of the new round of social dialogue

On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, in Rabat, the Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, continued the meetings as part of the new round of social dialogue by receiving a delegation from the General Union of Moroccan Workers (UGTM), led by the union's Secretary General, Mr. Enaam Mayara. Also present were the Minister of Economy and Finance, the Minister of Economic Inclusion, Small Business, Employment, and Skills, the Delegate Minister to the Minister of Economy and Finance in charge of the Budget, the Delegate Minister to the Head of Government in charge of Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesperson, and the Delegate Minister to the Head of Government in charge of Digital Transition and Administrative Reform.
The new round of social dialogue, which addresses the legitimate demands of workers, underscores the government's commitment to joint and responsible action alongside its social and economic partners. This is in line with the institutionalization of social dialogue, which the government has established as a strategic option, in accordance with the enlightened vision of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him.
During the meeting, the Head of Government emphasized the central role of families and the working class in government policies. He highlighted that the government has implemented wage increases benefiting large groups of workers through sectoral social dialogue, while also raising the guaranteed national minimum wage (SMIG) and increasing wages in the agricultural sector (SMAG).
In the discussion, marked by a spirit of responsibility, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch affirmed that the achievements made during this governmental term reflect the government's sincere commitment and political courage in responding to workers' aspirations. They also highlight the constructive proposals put forward by the trade unions.
The new round of social dialogue was launched on Tuesday with a meeting between the Head of Government and a delegation from the Moroccan Labor Union (UMT) and will continue with meetings involving delegations from the Democratic Labor Confederation (CDT) and the General Confederation of Moroccan Enterprises (CGEM).
