The Head of Government Chairs the First Meeting of the Interministerial Commission in Charge of the Rehabilitation Program for the Areas Affected by Floods in the Southeast of the Kingdom

  • In accordance with the High Royal Instructions, financial aid of 80,000 dirhams and 140,000 dirhams will be granted for the rehabilitation of 1,121 homes that were partially or totally destroyed.

As part of the government's implementation of the rehabilitation program for the areas affected by the floods in the southeast of the Kingdom, which is subject to the High Royal Instructions, the Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, chaired the first meeting of the Interministerial Commission responsible for the rehabilitation program for the areas affected by the floods in the southeast of the Kingdom on Wednesday, October 2, in Rabat.
This meeting focused on reviewing the major areas of the program, the projects it plans, the mechanisms and means for their rapid and effective implementation, as well as the programming of the necessary credits, set at 25 billion dirhams, a sum that will be deposited in the Fund for Combating the Effects of Natural Disasters.
In accordance with the High Instructions of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, and regarding the rehabilitation of damaged homes, the government will provide direct financial assistance for the rehabilitation of 1,121 homes, of which 269 homes were completely destroyed and 852 partially. The amount of this aid will be 80,000 dirhams for the rehabilitation work of partially collapsed homes and 140,000 dirhams for completely collapsed homes.
The rehabilitation program for areas affected by floods in the southeast of the Kingdom also includes components related to the rehabilitation of road infrastructure, telecommunications networks, electricity and drinking water distribution networks, and sanitation systems.The program also provides support for agricultural activities, particularly through the restoration of small and medium hydraulic works, support for livestock farmers to help restore herds in the affected regions, as well as the reconstruction and rehabilitation of damaged public buildings.
Attendees at this meeting included Mr. Abdelouafi Laftit, Minister of the Interior, Ms. Nadia Fettah, Minister of Economy and Finance, Mr. Nizar Baraka, Minister of Equipment and Water, Ms. Fatim Ezzahra EL MANSOURI, Minister of National Territory Planning, Urbanism, Housing, and City Policy, Mr. Mohammed Sadiki, Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development, and Water and Forests, Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance in charge of the Budget, and Mr. Mustapha Baitas, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government in charge of Relations with Parliament and Government Spokesperson.
