The Head of Government Meets with the Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo
The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, received Mrs. Suminwa Tuluka Judith, Prime Minister of the Democratic Republic of Congo, on Tuesday, November 26, 2024, in Rabat. Their discussions focused on ways to strengthen bilateral cooperation and matters of mutual interest.
At the start of the talks, the Head of Government congratulated Mrs. Suminwa Tuluka Judith on her appointment last April as the first woman to lead a government in the Democratic Republic of Congo. He praised the historic and fraternal relations between Rabat and Kinshasa and the shared commitment to enhancing bilateral cooperation in various fields, under the leadership of the two heads of state, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, and the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, His Excellency Félix Tshisekedi.
The Head of Government also commended the active solidarity between the two countries and their joint defense of the principle of national unity and territorial integrity. This is exemplified by Morocco’s participation in peacekeeping operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo since the 1960s and the DRC’s clear support for Morocco's sovereignty over the Sahara, including the opening of a DRC Consulate General in Dakhla in December 2020.
During their talks, the two leaders also reviewed the promising prospects for bilateral economic partnership, notably through enhanced consultations for holding the next session of the Joint Commission and revitalizing the Moroccan-Congolese Business Council.
