The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, met with Mr. Jawhar Nfissi, President of the National Financial Intelligence Authority (ANRF), on Thursday, December 12, 2024, in Rabat. During the meeting, Mr. Nfissi presented the Authority’s 2023 annual report to the Head of Government, in accordance with the provisions of Law No. 05-43 on combating money laundering, as amended and supplemented.
The third report on the national risk assessment of money laundering and terrorism financing highlights the growing activity indicators of the ANRF in 2023. This includes an increase in the number of suspicious transaction reports submitted, information requests at the national and international levels, and referrals made to the competent judicial authorities.
At the international level, the report underscores efforts to cooperate with specialized international and regional organizations and bodies, aimed at reinforcing Morocco's position and its adherence to international commitments in the fight against money laundering and terrorism financing.
In this context, the President of the ANRF emphasized the initiatives undertaken to upgrade and strengthen the national system for combating money laundering and terrorism financing. These initiatives focus on improving coordination among various stakeholders, including judicial authorities, law enforcement, supervisory bodies, and oversight authorities. He also highlighted efforts to align with the recommendations of the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) in compliance with international standards.
