The Head of Government Receives the President of the Moroccan Capital Market Authority
The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, received Mrs. Nezha Hayat, President of the Moroccan Capital Market Authority (AMMC), on Thursday, December 12, 2024, in Rabat. During the meeting, Mrs. Hayat presented the Authority’s Annual Report for the year 2023. This report highlights key developments in the capital market during 2023, a year marked by continued economic growth and a slowdown in inflation.
In this context, the capital market experienced notable growth in 2023. The number of financial transactions increased by 36%, reaching a total of 87.3 billion dirhams. Additionally, the net assets of Undertakings for Collective Investment in Transferable Securities (UCITS) rose by 11.8% to 600 billion dirhams, while stock market capitalization stood at 626 billion dirhams.
The report provides an overview of the Moroccan Capital Market Authority's achievements in 2023, particularly its activities related to licensing market participants and monitoring market operations. It also highlights the Authority's significant contributions to projects aimed at modernizing market instruments.
It is worth noting that the AMMC completed its 2021-2023 strategic plan and has launched a new strategic plan for the 2024-2028 period.
Through its efforts, the Moroccan Capital Market Authority seeks to enhance the attractiveness of the capital market and increase its contribution to savings growth and economic financing. It also ensures the proper functioning of the market and the transparency of transactions to safeguard savings invested in financial instruments.
