The Head of Government holds talks with the US Secretary of State
The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, received, on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, in Rabat, Mr. Antony Blinken, US Secretary of State, who is on a working visit to Morocco.
The meeting was attended by Mr. Ryad Mezzour, Minister of Industry and Trade, Mr. Mustapha Baitas, Minister Delegate to the Head of Government, in charge of Relations with Parliament, Government Spokesperson, and Ms. Malika Laasri, Director General of the Millennium Account Agency – Morocco.
This meeting was an opportunity to reaffirm the quality of the long-standing friendly relations between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America.
During the meeting, the two sides affirmed their determination to continue cooperation on issues of common interest in various political and economic aspects. They also highlighted the global situation and the challenges facing the global economic recovery to get out of the repercussions of the Corona pandemic, especially in light of the wave of rising raw material prices in the world and the continued disruptions to supply chains.
The two sides also discussed the prospects for developing trade exchanges and encouraging investment initiatives. In this context, Head of Government Aziz Akhannouch praised the positive dynamic of the strategic partnership between Morocco and the United States of America, expressing his desire to live up to the aspirations of both countries.
The head of government explained that the Kingdom has embarked on a set of strategies and structured workshops under the leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God assist him, stressing that the government has developed a set of measures to reduce the repercussions of the Corona pandemic, stimulate private investment and achieve economic recovery.
On the other hand, the Head of Government stressed that Morocco continues to implement its various commitments concerning the Millennium Challenge Program, signed between the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco and its American counterpart, represented by the Millennium Challenge Corporation, noting at the same time the remarkable progress recorded at the level of implementation of the various projects covered by the cooperation program "Compact II".
