The Head of Government holds a series of meetings with agricultural professionals
The Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch held, Friday in Rabat, a series of meetings with representatives of the Moroccan Confederation of Agriculture and Rural Development (COMADER), representatives of the Moroccan Federation of Production and Export of Vegetables and Fruits (FIFEL) and heads of chambers of agriculture, in the presence of the Minister of Economy and Finance, Ms. Nadia Fettah, the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, Rural Development, Water and Forests, Mr. Mohamed Sadiki, and Mr. Fouzi Lekjaa, the Minister delegate to the Minister of Economy and Finance, in charge of the budget.
The meetings were devoted to discussing a range of topics related to ways to rebalance production chains within the framework of the "Green Generation" strategy, which was affected by the high cost of agricultural inputs, the drought, and the repercussions of the pandemic, as well as the Russian-Ukrainian war. Solutions to reduce the prices of agricultural products and raise the level of continuous supply to the national market were also discussed.
During these meetings, the Head of Government urged professionals to ensure the continuous supply of agricultural products to the national market and to maintain the balance of production chains in order to ensure the abundance of products at reasonable prices, and to mitigate the effects of high prices on citizens. He stressed that the government, thanks to tracking mechanisms with professionals, is keen to create a balance between export and supply to the national market.
Mr. Aziz Akhannouch warned of the importance of rationalizing the management of water resources and the search for innovative solutions in this regard, stressing that government sectors are keen to accelerate desalination projects in order to overcome the problem of water stress.
The head of government inaugurated his meetings with members of the office of the Moroccan Confederation of Agriculture and Rural Development (COMADER), during which the government's commitment to supporting and accompanying professionals was reaffirmed, placing them at the center of the debate on the development of national agriculture and the development of the rural world. They also discussed the challenges facing Moroccan agriculture, especially food sovereignty, water stress, high prices, supplying the national market, the sustainability of Moroccan agriculture, as well as improving the living conditions of farmers.
Afterwards, the Head of Government, Mr. Aziz Akhannouch, met with members of the Moroccan Federation for the Production and Export of Vegetables and Fruits (FIFEL), where they discussed the conditions of fruit and vegetable production in the Kingdom, highlighting the prospects for development of the sector and improving the socio-economic aspects of farmers, as well as discussing measures that can overcome the various difficulties faced by professionals in the production and marketing of vegetables and fruits.
The Head of Government concluded his series of meetings by discussing with a number of heads of chambers of agriculture, where it was reiterated that the royal workshops for the universalization of social protection constitute one of the main pillars of the agricultural strategy "Green Generation", which pays great attention to the human element in the horizon of strengthening the middle agricultural class, and also contributing to improving the living conditions and stability of the population of the rural world.
The parties decided to hold future meetings in order to follow up the continuous supply of agricultural products to the national market and to work to increase the supply of agricultural products and reduce the prices of agricultural inputs.
